ONLINE VS IN PERSON

I feel like for me the positives for online school would be, I definitely have more time because I am not commuting/getting ready for class. I can use this time to finish an extra assignment or sleep in a few extra minutes. It is weird how adjusted I am to online classes and I think I am starting to like it at least for now. Although, I would switch back to in-person classes in a heartbeat. I love the social aspect of going and being in class. If it weren’t for breakout rooms I wouldn’t have made friends in the program.  I think the biggest negative for me with online classes is the idea of cabin fever as I do my classes mainly in my room or at the dining table so I don’t leave the house until I am done, class. I also think zoom fatigue is finally hitting me. I also find it hard to stay focused while on zoom because I have the ability to turn off my camera.

asynchronous VS SYNCHRONOUS

I really appreciate our classes being mainly synchronous as I think it helps motivate me to actually get up early for my classes. I know a lot of my friends’ courses are asynchronous and they are getting behind because they keep saying they will watch the lecture videos but they think because they can watch it whenever they have time. The thing I like about pre-recorded videos is the ability to go back and watch something again or change the speed of it.

TECHNOLOGY CONNECTIONS

I like the breakdown in one of the models where it was student-teacher, student-student, and student-content interactions, so the difference between them and what it means for each.

It is harder to communicate online than in person if you keep your camera and mic off every time.

I like the idea of using technology for students who are sick at home but do not want to miss what is going on in class. I would have benefited from this in highschool.

I think what is only possible online is the fast divide of random grouping like in breakout rooms.

I think what is only possible in face to face learning is experiments that need a lot of resources or art. Even P.E if you do not have the required space.
