As Anita and I discussed I am not repeating my midterm songs and I am just focusing on my final songs “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” and “Jingle Bells”. I am going to sing “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” in my own pitch. I will sing Jingle Bells with Denise Gagné in the background.
I have started looking at the notes for “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star”. I have decided to start learning this song first as I already know how to play chords C and G7 so all I need to learn is F. I want to get better at switching to a different chord faster so I am going to really focus on that while I am practicing the song. I am still undecided on the strumming pattern that fits right but I want to learn a different strumming pattern like “down, down-up” as suggested by Anita in my midterm feedback.
I have decided for this song that the strumming pattern “down, down, up, up” would be the best for this song.
I have taken the feedback I received from the midterm and put it into what I am doing now. I had trouble keeping my left thumb behind the fret. I didn’t realize you could see it and I wasn’t focused really on it as I was nervous about playing the right chords. I am now practicing keeping my left thumb behind by making a C shape. At first, it was extremely difficult to remember to keep my thumb behind the fret but once I remembered to make a claw shape, with practice it became easier.
I also have trouble keeping a steady beat because I am a beginner so I am also going to practice that as well.
To summarize, the 3 things I want to implement into my final are:
- keeping my left thumb behind the fret
- keeping a steady beat
- switching from each chord faster than before
