I have lots of experience with children as I have always loved kids. It started with babysitting in High School. for a 2 and a 3-year-old. I then volunteered a couple of times in my grade 5 teacher’s classroom and then in a grade 6/7 classroom after my first year of university. I work with my hometown City doing summer camps for kids from ages 5-12 at the rec centres. I have done art camps, sports camps, generic fun zone camps, preschool camps, and pre-teen camps so I have experience with all ages. In our training, we got to do some workshops that focused on how to support children’s emotions, children with disabilities,  and stimulating games to play with children. We also had done High Five training which focuses on healthy child development.  I also work at a rec centre on the island and I have instructed and attended birthday parties for kids of all ages and I have worked at the youth centre in the rec centre supervising high school students after school. I also now work in the after-school care program with the recreation department. This past summer due to COVID, I was nannying a 2 and a 5-year-old due to my normal summer camp job not running. I loved the family and I really enjoyed my time with them. Over this past semester, our program allowed us to observe a classroom once a week. I ended up in a kindergarten classroom and I absolutely adored kindergarten. My mentor teacher was amazing as well. Our practicum has been canceled, so she offered for me to come back to her classroom for the remaining rest of the school year once my classes are done.
