tuning:
I had a little trouble tuning my Ukulele. I ended up using a tuning app on my phone and asked for help from my roommate. We worked together to tune it to G, C, E, and A. I googled how to tune a Ukulele and I learned that this is the most standard way to tune one.
“ROW ROW ROW YOUR BOAT”:
I am starting to learn the first song. I have been practicing what strumming pattern sounds good. So far I am finding “down, down, down” easier but I am trying to get used to doing the pattern: “down, up, down, up”. I found Youtube tutorials to be the best for teaching myself. I have yet to learn the song but I understand that the notes used are “G7 and C”. I googled how to play G7 from the resource linked below:
It says “place the middle finger on the 2nd fret of the C-string, index finger on the 1st fret of the E-string, and ring finger on the 2nd fret of the bottom A-string. Let the other string ring open.”
C is a lot easier. It is just one finger: “Place your third (ring) finger on the A string at the 3rd fret.”
Tomorrow I will practice the notes.
Ukulele:
I am really enjoying what I am doing so far. I think it is super cool to be able to play an instrument and I hope I can continue to play or remember how to play the Ukulele so I can bring it into my own classroom in the future. I am excited to keep practicing. I decided I am learning the songs playing the Ukulele right-handed.
