Overview:
I really appreciate the topic you chose and it made me want to sign up to review yours. Learning how to identify and manage stress in the workplace is so important. As a future teacher, burnout seems to come with the job so having a course like this for employers to share with their employees or preservice teachers for example to become prepared with boundaries in the classroom. I appreciate your mentioning that stress in the workplace can affect your mental and physical well-being.
Strengths:
I really like how you included a personal example in the explanation of your chosen topic. It allows the learners to connect to the facilitators at a deeper level and understand why the learning design exists. I like how you mentioned stress is inevitable. I really like how you all provided examples of how to change self-talk from negative to positive. The managing techniques were great suggestions. I also like how you gave answers to the questions that were feasible and easy to follow.
Flow:
I felt like there was a lot of explanation as to what stress is and how to manage it in the workplace.
Activities:
I like the idea of having the learners reflect on their own journey with stress and providing resources they can use to help write their article. I love the idea of a concept map and how you are specific about how many things they should include. For the second formative assessment, I really like having the learners reflect on their own experiences which to me reminds me of constructivism. Using their prior experiences to learn new information.
Resources:
Your group used many resources to support your learning design and I appreciate the use of scholarly articles like the one stating that work is one of the number 1 stressors in adults’ lives.
Creativity:
This is such a relevant topic for university students and people in the workforce. I feel like having a course like this even at the end of the university would be so beneficial to prepare new grads for the workforce.
Assessment Plan:
There were both formative and summative assessments that the learners could definitely complete. I really like the action plan being a summative assessment. I like the idea of grading on participation and following a proficiency scale.
Room for improvement
Learning theory:
You provided a rationale but I am unsure which learning theory you chose. Maybe be specific in your rationale.
Presentation:
In the list of managing techniques, it would be nice if it was linear almost like a step-by-step rather than a paragraph. I think it is easier to follow and then readers can take the list for themselves.
I was a little confused about how this resource is to be presented to the learners. Is it a website or a take-home booklet given at work? Is it an open resource found online? I would clarify how it is supposed to be laid out.
I think it would be nice to include some visuals or various formats rather than just paragraphs.
For the final product, I am expecting the course will actually be created and there will be instructions for each formative and summative task. I also am wondering where they submit their products.
Age:
I am unsure what ages are relevant for this course. Maybe be specific about what ages this course is good for.
Learning Outcomes/Essential Questions:
I almost feel like there are too many essential questions, almost overwhelming to tackle all of them. Maybe minimizing it to about 3-4 questions.
Conclusion:
I believe your group has created a well-thought-out draft that is clear, organized, and has great content. You used many great resources and tackled managing stress! Thanks so much and I am excited to see the final product. 🙂
