Tuning:
I kept bonking my ukulele on items and untuning certain chords so I struggled to get it to be tuned again. I tuned it to standard or “C” for “Row, Row, Row, Boat” and “The Wandering Cowboy”. I really struggled with tuning the C string.
Chords:
A barrier I faced when learning these songs were playing the chords as they were a bit more challenging for me due to the instructors on youtube videos being right-handed, whereas I am left-handed. This required me to learn how to feel comfortable learning and holding the ukulele right-handed.
Strumming:
Strumming is quite difficult to get the hang of. I kept wanting to strum the chords aggressively but in doing so I would miss a chord. I found the easiest way to strum is to use my thumb and middle finger depending on the strumming pattern.
Row row row your boat:
With this song, I found changing from the C chord to the G7 chord to be the most challenging as it required more fingers and having to put them in the exact place on each thread. I also have quite large fingers so that was another challenge. I found the easiest to be switching back from G7 to C in the last chord.
The wandering cowboy:
With this song, for the most part, it was much easier to learn because I already learned how to play one song and there was also only one note for this song as well. The hardest part was figuring out a strumming pattern that worked. I went with down, up, down, up. I also have never heard of this song before I had to learn it so that was difficult to play when I had no idea how it went or the rhythm and pitch it was in. I was getting frustrated trying to copy exactly how they sang it on musiplayonline so I decided to put my own take on it and sang it a little differently.
